North Leigh 0
Taunton Town 2 (Lewis 33, Marsh 55)
Under-strength North Leigh slipped to an opening day defeat in Division 1 South & West on Saturday.
Missing five first-teamers, Mark Gee’s side were always going to struggle, and so it proved.
And their woes worsened when Andy McCabe went off with concussion.
Corey Lewis drilled home Taunton’s opener under keeper Adam Lonsdale, before North Leigh substitute Mark Dennis limped off with a thigh injury. North Leigh defender Stuart Hole’s header from Alfie Saunders’ corner was cleared off the line by Darren Rice.
Taunton doubled their lead ten minutes after the interval through Rodney Marsh.
Andy Helby and Andy Caton were thrown forward as makeshift strikers, but failed to make the breakthrough.
North Leigh: Lonsdale, Hutter (Smalldon 82), Caton, Hole, Huxley, Burnell, Helby, Posey, McCabe (Dennis 17, Sanders 35), Saunders, Collins. Sub not used: Fleming.
Attendance: 63.
