Headington Amateurs were made to sweat before sealing the Division 1 West points in the UHLSport Hellenic league.

The visitors were forced to defend early on, before Luke Cuff’s volley was saved by Nathan Taylor in the home goal.

After the break, Headington took the lead with a superb breakaway goal. Shaun Jacob’s pass settinging Cuff free and he finished coolly.

They might have doubled their, but Aftab Hafiz was denied by Taylor.

Paul Beavers levelled when he fired past Harry Jenkins, only for substitute Justin Muze – on his debut – to make it 2-1, before he set up Neil Lockhart for No 3.

Launton Sports 1 (Sweeney 38)

Letcombe 4 (Roberts 55, Bint 61, Horswell 75, 88)

A superb second-half show saw Letcombe to victory at their Oxfordshire rivals.

But they did it the hard way after coming from behind.

Launton dominated from the off and took the lead seven minutes before the break .

Dan Sweeney outpaced the visitors’ defence before slotting a fine goal past the stranded Stuart Game, who had come out of semi-retirement with Craig Payne unavailable .

Launton nearly doubled their advantage within seconds of the restart but Ben Foster fired wide following Sweeney’s trem-endous run.

Letcombe levelled when Paul Roberts flicked home from six yards.

Five minutes later, substitute Liam Bint gave Letcombe the lead when he reacted quickest after Launton’s defence failed to clear a Jamie Rutter corner.

Letcombe went further ahead when Pete Horswell netted a third.

Horswell completed the rout two minutes from time with Letcombe’s fourth.

To complete Launton’s misery, Sweeney was dismissed late on after collecting a second booking.
