OXFORDSHIRE Under 15s wrapped up their ECB Championship season with a win and a defeat against Isle of Wight and Cornwall.
In a rain-affected match against the Islanders, Oxon posted a competitive total of 174 in 28 overs with 50 for Joe Barrett, 37 for Luke Finch and 36 not out for Connor Morrison.
Isle of Wight were never really in it, and finished on 132-7 as Chris Goodman and Josh Garrett took two wickets apiece.
The final match ended in an eight-run defeat against group winners Cornwall in Padstow.
The home side batted first and posted 198 all out in 47.4 overs.
Connor Williams was the pick of the bowlers with 3-25, while there were two wickets each for Miles Hammond, Nick Barker and Liam Hare.
In reply, Joe Barrett (34) and Adam Muttitt (30) got Oxon off to a good start.
But wickets started to fall and although Josh Megson top-scored with 40 not out and Hammond struck 39, Oxon finished just short at 190-8 in a thrilling end to the season.
