Didcot Barramundi’s Alex Murphy broke a regional record when competing in the 15/16yrs age group at the British Gas ASA National Youth Championships in Pond’s Forge, Sheffield.
In the 100m breaststroke, the 15-year-old made it through to the semi-finals with a personal best of 1min 7.67 secs.
This is a south-east regional age group record, as well as an Oxfordshire & North Bucks junior record (long course).
Murphy could not quite match this effort in the semi-finals where he finished 15th in 1.08.61 - with the top eight going through.
He also competed in the 200m breaststroke heats where his time of 2.34.38 was not enough to progress.
