Many moons ago, I used to fish the TC pit alongside the A34 at Peartree, targeting the large bream and tench.
I met several anglers there, including Pete Coates who in those days lived over at Cassington, but now resides in Eynsham.
I have not spoken to Pete for years, so it was a bit of a surprise when the phone rang the other evening and he was on the other end. He has just returned from France with some mates where they have been carp fishing at Lac du Val.
Pete, who would admit that he is no carp angler, had three personal best fish of 39.4.0, 40.4.0 and a huge common of 50.5.0, all the fish falling to home-made pellets.
