Bury have lost their first two matches this season, but can count themselves unlucky.
They outplayed Sheffield Wednesday for much of their Carling Cup first-round tie, only to lose 1-0.
League One side Wednesday scored from their one real shot, while Bury had more than half a dozen good goal attempts. Only fine goalkeeping from Nicky Weaver kept them out.
And in their opening league match last weekend, against a Port Vale side many are tipping for promotion, the Shakers went down 1-0 at home despite having the better of the first half.
Centre half Ben Futcher missed the first two games with an ankle injury, and he is likely to be missing again on Saturday.
Players to watch out for include midfielder Steven Schumacher, who has been given the captain’s armband, and Andy Howarth a pace left winger from Blackburn who likes to shoot.
Knill gave six players their debut last saturday, so it’s a new team.
But they have regulars up front who know where the goal is.
Ryan Lowe was top scorer last term with 18 goals, and his strike partner, Andy Bishop, now looks back to his best after suffering an injury-ravaged season last year.
