Oxfordshire champion Katherine O’Connor was left to rue one poor round after finishing tenth in the English Ladies Open Strokeplay Championship at Whittington.
She was left kicking herself after a nightmare third round ruled her out of contention.
Welsh international O’Connor, from Tadmarton Heath, was joint leader after a first round 71, while a second-round 74 left her just one shot off the pace.
A poor start to the third round with nine shots dropped in the first seven holes effectively ended her hopes of winning the title as she shot a nine-over-par 81.
O’Connor hit back with a 69 to land a top-ten finish with a seven-over-par total of 295, 11 shots behind winner Julie Yang, from Korea.
Tilly Magill, another Oxfordshire player, finished 16th on ten-over-par after consistent rounds of 73,75,74 and 76.
Jane Binning (Frilford Heath) and Oxfordshire junior Gemma Clements (Studley Wood) failed to make the two-round cut.
PAULINE Sydenham was presented with a copy of her course record card as she celebrated her lady president’s day at North Oxford.
Sydenham, who retires from the role later this year, carded the record round of 75 in May.
BICESTER have won the Oxfordshire Junior League’s South Division after an unbeaten campaign.
The team of Tom Heasley (captain), Drew Blackburn, Jamie Patmore, David Grant, Niall Ashworth, Tim Grant, George Kerr and Timothy Blackburn won seven matches and drew one.
