MP SPORTS CHERWELL LEAGUE - Div 3

Morning leaders Aston Rowant 2nd dropped to third and were replaced at the top by Great Brickhill, who beat them by 56 runs.

Rowant reduced their visitors to 147 all out after Tim Foster took 3-41. Doug Aris finished unbeaten on 50.

But Brickhill’s bowlers fought back, Nick Tweed taking 3-30 and David Austin 3-31 as Rowant were all out for 91.

Oxford Downs 2nd are up to second after hammering Hanborough by 156 runs.

Downs racked up 249-8 from 48 overs as Steve Roberts and Will Watts hit 81 apiece, Aaron Hobley taking 5-45.

Roberts then took 4-17 in Hanborough’s 93 all out.

Ben Jefferis took 6-54, but his Kingston Bagpuize side were unable to prise out either of Bledlow Ridge’s final pair – under 15s Jack Brooks and George Tombs.

Good knocks by Marco Cecchini (89), Martin Shepherd (47) and Robert Keates (42) took Kingston to 239-6 dec.

Ridge were 104-0 after 25 overs, but 161-9 after 47.

K Bagpuize 17, Bledlow Ridge 8

Faisal Ali (72) and Joe Wilcox (47) took Dinton 2nd to 211-9 after they were asked to bat at Witney Mills. Ben Madden led the Mills attack well, finishing with 4-32.

Pete Claridge hit 54 to give the hosts hope, but they finished on 172-4 thanks to Malcolm Hohls (32no) and Pierre Lefort (31no).

Witney Mills 10, Dinton 2nd 11

Mohsin Zia took 6-22 to bowl Oxford 3rd to victory at Bledlow Village, where 20 wickets fell for 190 runs.

Oxford had been dismissed for 97, Tallat Mehmood hitting 53 and Chris Spooner collecting 5-19, but Bledlow succumbed for only 93.
