Thame Town halted their run of three defeats – but only just – after an improved display in their Division 2 West match at at Slough.
Put in to bat on a good pitch, Slough struggled, with Tha-me’s returning skipper, Sam Lachlan, removing both openers.
Slough batted well either side of lunch before Michael Higgs captured two wickets, including the vital one of skipper Bobby Sher.
Although wickets fell regularly, Slough continued to score freely, although good fielding and bowling kept them down to 221 in their 60 overs.
Thame lost two early wickets, but Michael Beard showed great character against Pakistan Test player Mohammad Thala.
Manoj Parmar upped the run rate as he and Beard set Thame up for what could have been a tight finish.
But they lost a cluster of wickets with about ten overs to go and had to settle for a draw, which they achieved with the last pair at the crease.
