A dozen riders covering more than 40 years of competing for the former Oxford Cheetahs met up for a reunion in Wheatley this week.
The years were spanned by by Jim Gregory who rode for Oxford in 1952, and David Clarke, a 1993 Cheetah.
The reunion was set up by John Payne, who ran Oxford Speedway alongside Bernard Crapper between 1980 and 1995.
It was held at the Plough, where Payne has been the landlord for nearly 20 years.
Crapper was unable to attend due to ill health.
Colin Meredith, a Oxford rider from 1976 and 1979 and team manager of the 2001 Elite League winning side, was there. Other riders to attend included Malcolm Holloway, Jon Surman, Kevin Smart, Pete Seaton, Keith Booth, John Hack, Dave Perks and Steve Crockett.
Perks was the top man in the National League in 1980.
The next reunion, which was organised by Ann Booker will be on take place at the Plough on Sunday, October 24, which would have been the 50th birthday of the late Simon Wigg, an Oxford speedway legend.
