Skip Howard Watts’s rink led the way as Oxfordshire completed a hat-trick of wins in Middleton Cup Group 3B with a 122-92 victory over Middlesex at Finchley.
Watts’s four of Lee Young, Nathan Lewis and Craig Nicoll stormed to a 32-9 success against skip Perry Cook.
Their victory was pivotal in the county’s latest success, which puts them firmly at the top of the table.
And victory over Berkshire in their final group game at Banbury Central on Saturday, July 10 will ensure Oxon’s passage into the quarter-finals.
Young and Nicoll had further cause to celebrate with the former receiving his 50-game badge, while his teammate was presented with his Middleton Cup flash.
Oxon led throughout their latest encounter, winning on four of the six rinks and drawing on another.
Alan Prew’s four of Chris Miles, who also received his Middleton Cup flash, Paul Sharman and Stuart Richens overcame a slow start to defeat Mal Bishop 23-14.
Baden Sparkes’s side of Mike Petersen, George Moon and Robbie Clanfield ran out 20-12 winners against Pat Briscoe.
And captain Greg Moon’s rink of John Philpott, Barry Lambourne and Richard Redford edged home 17-16 over Ali Frankland.
Mark Sykes’s four of AJ Docherty, Jason King and Mark Charlett pulled back a four-shot deficit over the last six ends to draw 16-16 with Norman Worley.
