A fine 66 from veteran Manoj Parmar set Thame up for a thrilling two-wicket wicket victory in the final over at Gerrards Cross in Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League - Division 2 West.
Batting first, Gerrards Cross lost wickets at regular intervals, but Jonny Hughes (130) showed fine resistance as he helped his side reach 254 in the final over.
Michael Higgs (4-90) and Jaydeep Bhatti (3-77) were the pick of Thame’s bowlers, but they both found it hard to contain Hughes on such a small ground and flat pitch.
In reply, Thame saw off the new ball as Michael Beard (50) and Chris Wynd (48) got off to a solid start.
But when they fell, the stage was set for Parmar. He came in and spread the field with some fine shots to get Thame ahead of the scoring rate.
However, when Parmar was bowled and Higgs run out, the pressure was back on.
But Thame’s lower order stood firm and secured victory with five balls to spare.
