AN innings of 45 from Sami Khawaja was in vain as Oxfordshire lost by 22 runs at Berkshire.
Batting first, Berkshire posted a useful total of 172-7, Henry Bennett (34) and Nathan Shaw (32) leading the way.
Oxon started well in their reply with Khawaja and James Palmer taking the score to 42 before Palmer was out lbw just before the drinks break.
A 51-run stand between Khawaja and William Hawtin took the score to 93-2, before Khawaja was run out.
Oxon were left needing 48 to win from the last six overs and some big hitting was needed.
But despite their best efforts, Oxon were bowled out for 150.
