It took Eddie Pepperell five years to win a title, but he has now claimed two inside a month.

The 19-year-old Drayton Park member bagged the Berkshire Trophy on Sunday after carding four sub-par rounds at The Berkshire.

This success comes hot on the heels of Pepperell’s victory in the Welsh Amateur Open Strokeplay at Royal St David’s.

Pepperell (pictured) shot 69, 70, 67 and 69 at The Berkshire to finish two strokes clear of fellow England international Alex Christie.

Past winners of the Berkshire Trophy include Michael Bonallack, Peter Oosterhuis, Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle and Ross Fisher.

Pepperell bids to keep his run going today when he tees it up in the Brabazon Trophy, which is the English Open Amateur Strokeplay championship, at Royal Liverpool.

  • FRILFORD Heath’s Ashley Walton has won through the regional qualifying for next month’s Open Championship at St Andrews.

Walton made an eagle on the 17th hole at Enville to take him through to local final qualifying in Scotland next Tuesday.

Frilford clubmate Tom Fleming missed by one shot at the same venue.

Former Frilford player Martin Woodbridge, now at The Wisley, qualified at Effingham.

  • OXFORDSHIRE’S Gary Boyd missed the cut in his first US Open at Pebble Beach.

The 23-year-old, from Banbury, carded rounds of 78 and 75 to finish on 11-over-par.
