Oxford Cavaliers picked up their first points of the season with a 40-16 win at Swindon St George the Co-operative Conference South East Division.

The visitors went ahead early on when prop Barry Llewellyn went over, with Jack Briggs’s conversion giving them a 6-0 lead. Although Swindon hit back with a converted try, Johnno Da Silva restored the lead with an unconverted score following an 80 metre run.

Within minutes of the second half, Mario Da Silva scored under the posts, with Ryan Hodnett converting.

Mario Da Silva scored his second try and John Connaughton went over with a trademark dart from dummy half. Both conversions were missed. Swindon scored a try before Cavaliers’ Darrel Rendell went over and new signing Richard White did likewise against his old club.

With 15 minutes left, Swindon clawed another try back, but Cavaliers’ Tom O’Reilly replied in kind, before centre Toby James bagged another, which went unconverted.

On Saturday, Cavaliers travel to Greenwich.
