MP Sports Cherwell League - Divisions 6-10
Bicester & North Oxford 2nd and Aston Rowant 3rd fought out the season’s first tie in a nailbiting Division 7 clash.
Captain David Clark led the way with 71 after Bicester were inserted at Rowant’s Lewknor ground.
Reece Green made 39, while Chris Leaney took 3-45 as Bicester closed on 170-8.
Rowant struggled initially, but youngsters Jack Sears (33) and No 10 Billy Morris (31) took them to the brink.
Morris and Leaney fell with the score on 170, leaving 15-year-old Oxfordshire girls player Lindsay Smith stranded. Danny Delahunt (6-60) and Kishan Dave (4-44) took all the wickets for Bicester.
With Horspath 2nd having a bye, Abingdon 2nd went top of Division 6 after drawing with Bletchley Town 2nd.
David Warboys took 4-39 in Bletchley’s 247-6 and then made 103 as his side closed on 223-8.
Matthew Hemming bagged his first five-wicket haul for Shipton-under-Wychwood 3rd to ensure his older brother Andy did not grab all the headlines after his npower Village Cup exploits.
A day before, Matthew Hemming took 5-35 as Shipton 3rd saw off Didcot 4th by six wickets in Division 10 of the MP Sports Cherwell League.
Hemming’s haul restricted Didcot to 107, despite 37 from Lewis Wilcox.
Joe Barrett (33) then led Shipton to 111-4.
