BALLYMAC Ace (4-6) again set the stan-james.com Pall Mall alight with another scintillating display in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Ace posted a fine 26.55 secs when finishing a length and a quarter ahead of the game Anagram, who battled on well without really threatening.

The Monmore raider lost half a length out of the traps, but soon moved into top gear with the rest chasing fresh air.

Oxford’s hopes were with Angie Kibble’s Hillcross Orion (5-2).

But, despite showing good early pace, he couldn’t cope with a superb burst from the traps by Amazing Value (5-1), who proved just that in posting a very fast 3.66 sectional, and 26.67 by the chequered flag.

Tony Collett’s Sittingbourne hope Lenson Duo booked his place in the final some three and three quarters of a length away in second spot.

There was a big upset in the first semi where hot favourite Ten Large Down (6-4), fancied by many to be the ultimate winner, was very badly crowded at the first bend and was never in the hunt thereafter.

It left smartly-away Glenroe Ginger (7-2) to see off Step on Lee (5) by nearly six lengths.

However, with all six finalists classed as railers, there is sure to be plenty of trouble in Tuesday’s final with Ballymac Ace drawn in trap five.
