Mark Charlett’s Headington A posted a crushing victory over South Oxford A in Division 1 of the Oxford & District League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries.
Howard Watts secured the league’s biggest win of the day, ending up 24 shots to the good against Ian Beckett as Headington won 108-63.
Despite their best efforts though, Headington could not close the gap on leaders Banbury Central A, who themselves notched up a three-figure score as they routed neighbours Chestnuts.
Baden Sparkes’s 20-shot win for Carterton against City & County A secured a share of the points at Oxford City & County A.
Witney Mills got back to winning ways with a victory at Shiplake in Division 2, with club captain Richard Barnett leading the way.
West Witney kept up the pressure by beating City & County B, while Kidlington moved up to third with a hard-fought win at Cotswold.
Kidlington were five shots adrift going into the last end, but a five from John Hardie’s four, and shots elsewhere turned the tie around.
Only half-a-point separates the top four sides in Division 3.
Blackbird Leys and Woodstock played out a draw, while Charlbury and Witney Town closed the gap with wins against Banbury Central B and Headington B respectively.
Rover got off the bottom with their second successive win, this time at Bloxham, who replace them at the foot of the table.
Last week, South Oxford B suffered a massive defeat in Division 4, but they turned things around this week by taking all the points from Chipping Norton in Division 4.
Watlington went top with a victory over previous leaders West Oxford, and Hanborough maintained third place by beating Chadlington.
Florence Park beat OUP in the other game which sees the north Oxford club slip to the bottom.
