Oxfordshire athletes shone during the inugural F1 Chicken Run 10k race at Brackley, providing both the men’s and ladies’ winners.
Witney Roadrunner Tony Lock took the men’s title on an undulating multi-terrain course, crossing the line first in 35mins 58secs.
Michelle Bartlett (Banbury Harriers) was the first lady home and 12th overall in 41.38.
Ed Mezzetti (Oxford City) was third man in 37.31, while Alchester’s Shaun O’Gorman was fourth and won the first veteran prize in 38.13.
Alchester’s Kate Hutchings was 24th and third lady home in 45.01.
- RICHARD Jegou, of White Horse Harriers, won the shot put in the Midland Masters Track & Field Championships at Leicester.
Jegou took gold with a championship record throw of 10.28m. He also finished second in both the discus (30.89) and the hammer (30.38).
- CRAMP cost Paul Jegou victory in an off-road race, but the White Horse Harrier still managed to finish sixth in the South Downs Path Marathon in 3hrs 12mins 10secs.
- HILARY O’Shea, from Abingdon Amblers, was first the lady over 60 to finish in the Man versus Horse Mountain Marathon in mid-Wales.
She recorded a time of 4hrs 39mins in this hilly 22-mile multi-terrain race.
Headington Roadrunners won the second men’s team prize, and Neville Baker was third V50 male.
