COMBE’S Robbie Nicholson had a weekend to remember as he blasted centuries on successive days in league and cup.
Nicholson smashed an unbeaten 143 to help his side to a 29-run victory over Clifton Hampden in Division 3 on Saturday, before adding 115 not out a day later in the second round of the Telegraph Cup against Oxenford.
In their league clash, Combe rattled up an impressive 276-3, Charlie Arber chipping in with 63.
Clifton made a spirited reply, but closed on 247-9, Alister Slay hitting 79 and Richard Beard 67.
Against Oxenford, Nicholson’s unbeaten ton plus 66 from Chris Moore helped Combe to 249-2, before Tom Kellie (5-33) ensured Oxenford were shot out for 152 in reply.
East & West Hendred went top of Division 3 with a 107-run win over Stonesfield.
Jon Francis (79) led Hendred to 228-8, before Mark Baring took 5-43 as Stonesfield fell to 121 all out.
Zulfiqar Nasib took 7-39 as East Oxford 2nd beat Eynsham by 98 runs.
Amir Faruq (54) helped East Oxford to 203-8, before Eynsham crashed to 105 all out.
Richard Benwell (5-19) and Rod Baker (4-19) combined for Westcott to dismiss West Ilsley for 80.
Westcott sneaked to a two-wicket win at 81-8.
In Division 1, Horley stayed clear on top as they beat Great Horwood by three wickets.
Chasing Horwood’s 212-8, Nick Tarrant smashed 113 not out to see his side to 213-7.
Faisal Choudhary took 6-24 to inspire East Oxford to a three-wicket win over Marcham.
Choudhary’s haul saw Marcham tumbled out for 99, then Abdul Rasheed (31) saw East Oxford to victory.
Garsington edged past Shrivenham by one wicket.
The home side were dismissed for 212, and Garsington were grateful to in-form Clive Woodward (52) as they reached 216-9.
Sam Harper scored 77 as Westbury thumped Tetsworth by 85 runs.
Westbury’s 218-8 was far too much as Richard Tredwell (4-16) helped to dismiss Tetsworth for 133.
Charlbury top Division 2 after their three-wicket win over Letcombe.
Pat Bryan hit 122 in Letcombe’s challenging 212 all out, while Bimalka Liyanarachchi took 6-31.
Ajit Shah (66no) and Chris Barras (50no) shared an unbroken eight-wicket stand as Charlbury then reached 213-7, this after Martin Turnbull (5-19) had ripped through their top order.
Minster Lovell moved up to second with a nine-wicket win over Watlington.
Having bowled their visitors out for 81, skipper Andy Crawford hit 60 not out to ease Minster home.
Faringdon crushed Broughton & North Newington by 122 runs.
Ian Oglesby hit 90 not out in Faringdon’s 249-4, before Broughton crashed to 127 all out in reply.
Oxford Caribbean picked up their second win as they saw off Hook Norton by 33 runs.
Nigel George (51no) saw Caribbean to 191-6 and Zabi Saeed took 4-46 as Hooky fell for 158.
Joe Leonard’s 95 not out helped Marsh Gibbon to an eight-wicket win over Witney Swifts.
Swifts had posted 181 all out, Charlie Fisher top-scoring with 76 and Grant Cross taking 6-27.
