Oxford and Cherwell Valley College (OCVC) have teamed up with Kirtlington to offer a golf-themed course from this autumn.
The new scheme will combine BTEC diplomas in sport with regular coaching at Kirtlington and is billed as ‘a dream combination for those keen to pursue a career in golf’.
Kirtlington’s head professional Andy Taylor said: “I’m delighted to be part of this initiative, as it really does offer a unique opportunity to pursue academic studies in tandem with sports practice.
“The structured coaching, intercollegiate tournaments and club buzz will help focus student minds on their goals and encourage them to keep studying at the same time.”
Richard Peirson, OCVC sports course leader, said: “This is precisely the kind of specialist professional training that will appeal to 16 to 19-year-olds, where students learn right at the heart of the sport that inspires them.”
