Witney's swimmers put in a superb performance to secure victory in round two of the Chiltern League at Leighton Buzzard.
They trailed in second place for most of the competition, but a final push saw them pip Linslade by six points.
The club’s swimmer-of-the-match award went to Sam Bark.
He was rewarded for his efforts in the men’s open 100m freestyle and breaststroke.
Results: 1 Witney 210pts, 2 Linslade 204, 3 Chalfont 184, 4 Chesham 165, 5 Putteridge 113, 6 Houghton Regis 98.
Witney winners: E Bowerman, J Parry, A-L Harris, T Foggett, D Frost, J Kendall, E Doughtry, A Moss.
Meanwhile Witney finished third out of 14 in the Braunton 50m sprint gala at Coventry.
There were four victories, Yolanda Speare winning the ladies’ open 50m backstroke), Aimee Felstead (girls 13 & un-der 50m butterfly), Larissa Dalgarno (girls’ 11 & under 50m backstroke) and Callum McLean (boys 15 & under 50m backstroke).
Swimmer-of-the-match was Dalgarno for her win and second place in the 11 & under breaststroke.
Result: 1 Braunton A 431, 2 Kettering 425, 3 Witney 417.
A minute's silence was held at the gala following the death of Witney SC’s head coach John Sadler.
Mr Sadler had been at the helm for more than 20 years, and was a respected and much-loved figure across the region.
A weakened Kidlington & Gosford side had to settle forjoint fifth in their Chiltern League meeting at Banbury.
Seven of Kidlington’s selected swimmers were unable to compete.
Despite this, first places were achieved by Lucy Parsons, (10yrs 50m freestyle), Amy Crisp (14 & under 50m freestyle and 12 & under 50m butterfly), Adam Crisp (mens open 50m butterfly), Chelsea Beahan (10 yrs 50m freestyle) and Emily Ridewood (14 & under 50m breaststroke).
Kidlington’s ladies open relay teams won both their medley and freestyle relays.
Their squads involved Emily Ridewood, Hannah Clements, Ellen Fowler, Amy Crisp and Sarah Richards.
Abingdon Vale SC came away with 19 medals, three of them gold, from the Tiger-sharks SC Last Chance Meet in Swindon.
