Oxford Cheetahs promoter Aaron Lanney has signed 28-year-old Polish rider Stanislaw Burza to replace Frenchman Mathieu Tresarrieu as the official No 8.
Burza rides for Berwick in the Premier League and has put in some impressive performances for the Borders club since joining them earlier in the season.
He also rides for Tarnow in the top-flight Extra League in his homeland and scored seven points on Sunday.
Commenting on the change, Lanney said: "Mathieu Tresarrieu did well when called upon to ride for us, but Stanislaw is, I think, a better rider right now and the opportunity to sign him as our No 8 was too good to miss."
With Czech reserve Lubos Tomicek struggling to be fit to ride in tomorrow's home match against Arena Essex, 'Stan the Man' may get an earlier opportunity than expected to make his debut.
The match against Arena Essex definitely goes ahead and Lanney added: "With England out of the World Cup, I'm urging our fans to turn out in force for a match that the Cheetahs are determined to win!"
Cheetahs ace Adam Skornicki (pictured) is through to this year's Polish National Championship final, having finished third in the semi-final.
The meeting was won by Wieslaw Jagus on 12 points, the same as runner-up Damian Balinski, with Skornicki's 11 points enough for third. The other semi, raced at Rawicz, was won by Jarolslaw Hampel ahead of former Oxford rider Seb Ulamek and Piotr Protasiewicz.
Cheetahs' fixture at Eastbourne will now go ahead on Sunday, July 23 at 3.30pm instead the original date of Saturday, July 15.
