Cumnor have been commended for their sportsmanship after offering to decline a bye in the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup.
The MP Sports Cherwell League Division 1 club were due to face Kingston Bagpuize in the preliminary round.
Bagpuize had missed the original deadline, but organisers Oxfordshire Cricket Board wanted to involve them.
OCB chairman Chris Clements said: “Kingston were unable to fulfil their fixture with Cumnor.
“Without being asked, Cumnor captain Chris Mitty volunteered to decline their bye and offered to play the club. Unfortunately this was declined due to time pressures.
“If there was a spirit of cricket award for May then Chris Mitty and Cumnor would get it.”
