OCA League Divisions 1-4

MOHAMMED Sarfraz returned to action for East Oxford to help his side to a thrilling three-wicket victory at Great Horwood in Division 1.

The reigning champions had restricted their hosts to 186-6., with Simon Ridgway contributing 46 not out.

East Oxford were struggling in their reply, before Sarfraz, batting at nine, scored a superb 75 not out to steer his side to victory.

Freeland picked up their first victory of the season as they thrashed Tetsworth by 119 runs.

Billy Webb (77), Richard Howe (51no) and Ian Harris (43) helped Freeland to 255-5.

Max Godwin then took 3-32 as Tetsworth crashed to 136 all out in reply.

Marcham beat Garsington by six wickets. Bryan Barrett took 4-37 as Garsington fell to 156 all out, before Jim McGeown (48no) and Eddie Howard (37) saw Marcham home.

Darren de Bruyn starred with bat and ball to help Horley to a 45-run win over Shrivenham.

De Bruyn scored 37 in Horley’s 170 all out, before taking 5-12 to help dismiss Shrivenham for 125.

In Division 2, James Walton returned figures of 6-32 as Broughton & North Newington thumped Marsh Gibbon by 154 runs.

Broughton rattled up 263-9, Gary Crook hitting 80.

Walton then ripped through Marsh Gibbon, who were tumbled out for just 109 in reply.

Charlbury saw off Hook Norton by 32 runs.

Chris Morgan (46) and Andy Timms (43) helped them to 191 all out, before Bimalka Liyanarachchi took 4-36 as Hooky were restricted to 159-7.

Five wickets apiece from Martin Turnbull and Richard Taylor saw Letcombe to a six-wicket win over Watlington.

Taylor led the way with 5-12, while Turnbull took 5-38 as Watlington were shot out for 55, which Letcombe passed with ease.

Youngster George Seacole dug Witney Swifts out of a tricky situation to steer his side to a 95-run victory over Faringdon.

Seacole scored 85 out of Swifts’ 162 all out, before veteran Omar Hussain took 6-16 as Faringdon were skittled out for 67.

Tim Wyatt hit 129 not out as Stonsfield beat Fringford by 112 runs in Division 3.

Wyatt’s knock included seven sixes and 13 fours.

With George Redknap adding 59, Stonesfield rattled up 289-4, and then Sean Holley (4-32) and Dan Sherbourne (3-16) combined to bowl Fringford out for 177.

Oxenford came away from West Ilsley with a 46-run win.

After scoring 183 all out, Zahid Zakhel took 4-26 as the home side were dismissed for 137.

East & West Hendred thr-ashed Westcott by 165 runs.

Ivan Mulford (68) led the way as Hendred posted 255 all out, before Mark Baring (4-27), Eddie Glover (3-13) and Miles Martin (3-47) combined to dismiss Westcott for just 90.

Danny Harding scored his second century of the season as Chadlington beat Radley by 101 runs in Division 4.

Harding’s 111 and Mark Lambert’s 66 helped Chadlington to 236-8, before Radley were restricted to 135-9 in reply.

Graham Baulch (84no) and Danny Wells (60) saw Oxford Rescue to 208-4 against Britwell Salome, who were then shot out for 124.

  • IN their re-arranged Airey Cup first round match, Minster Lovell saw off Oxford Caribbean by 49 runs.

Having been dismissed for just 117, Minster were thankful to Matt Green (5-21) and Chris Morgan (4-35) as Caribbean crashed to 68 all out in reply.
