Mickey Lewis says it’s business as usual for Oxford United’s coaching staff ahead of tomorrow’s match.
The U’s assistant manager admits that nobody cannot hide the enormity of the game, but that the preparations will be the same as they have all season.
“We are trying to keep everything as normal as possible,” he said.
“We prepared thoroughly for every game this season, and Sunday will be no different – but obviously the stakes are a lot higher.
“I know it’s boring, but we are all really focused on this and have been as soon as we reached Wembley.”
As a player, Lewis enjoyed some big days, but never experienced Wembley.
“When I was a kid at West Brom we reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup and League Cup but lost both of them,” he said.
“I only played three or four games in the season, and while I certainly wouldn’t have been in the team, might have been in the squad for the finals.
“But we didn’t get there, so this will be the first time for me there.”
He added: “We know that we will have unbelievable backing from our fans on the day.
“And the players have shown that they can handle big, vocal crowds throughout the season so it’s going to be a big positive.
“Myself, Chris (Wilder) and Andy (Melville) have played in matches with 50-60,000 people and understand that when you first walk out the tunnel and see all the fans it is a bit of a shock, but once you overcome that – which doesn’t take long – you can concentrate on the job in hand.”
