Abingdon School’s Peter Barnshaw followed up his success in the Oxfordshire Track & Field Championships by taking four more gold medals in the intermediate boys’ age group at the Vale Schools Championship.
Barnshaw, who won the 200m, 400m, long jump and 400m hurdles in the county championships, took another four golds at Radley College.
He clocked 11.8 secs to win the 100m, before stopping the clock in 53.1 in the 400m.
His 200m time of 23.9 brought him a third gold medal before he completed his four-timer with a mark of 15.2 in the hurdles.
There was a hat-trick of gold medals for Larkmead School’s Emma O’Hara in the throwing events.
Competing in the intermediate girls’ category, O’Hara threw 28.74m in the discus, 19.74m in the javelin and 9.32m in the shot.
Ellie Wilkins (King Alfred’s) won the 800m in 2.41.6, while Imogen Kempton clocked 5.09.6 to win the 1500m.
In the junior girls’ section, Amy Greenway (Fitzharris) grabbed a sprint double in the 100m and 200m, clocking 13.3 and 27.3 respectively.
Sophie Lloyd (King Alfred’s, Wantage) won gold in the junior girls’ 1500m in a personal best of 5.13.7.
Nick Boreham (Abingdon) landed a sprint double in the junior boys’ 100m and 200m in times of 12.4 and 24.6 secs respectively, while Tyron Forscutt threw 30.60m in the discus and 11.19m in the shot for a brace of gold medals.
At senior level, there was a 1-2-3 for Abingdon in the 1500m as Joe Kempton (4.15.6) saw off teammates Tom Watkins and Alex Muir for the gold medal.
