Jordan Garnish will compete in the Callaway Junior World Championships at Torrey Pines after winning a play-off.
Garnish, a member at The Oxfordshire, has made the under 17 final at the Californian course from July 12 to 16.
The 17-year-old, from Chinnor, played off against Lewis Casserley (Ashridge) at East Berkshire on Sunday after the pair had tied in the initial qualifier at Woburn.
Garnish, a two-time Oxfordshire junior champion, got off to a good start and held a three-stroke lead after nine holes.
A double-bogey from Garnish and a birdie from Casserley soon levelled proceedings.
Garnish went ahead decisively with a tap-in birdie on the 16th before ending up three strokes ahead.
Jordan’s dad and caddy, Paul Garnish, said: “Both lads played tremendous golf.
“Lewis just kept coming back. I think Jordan’s ability to stay focused under pressure and pull off the win was absolutely amazing.”
Past winners include USA Ryder Cup player Anthony Kim and USPGA tour pro Kevin Stadler.
- LIAM Robinson and Craig Hinton both reached the Brabazon Trophy final after coming through the southern qualifier at Frilford Heath.
Tadmarton Heath’s Robinson qualified in 14th place for one of amateur golf’s leading events after a two-under-par round of 70 on the Blue Course.
