Jason Hunt smashed a superb century as Shipton-under-Wychwood thrashed Sandford St Martin by 208 runs in round one of the npower Village Cup.

Hunt, who used to be known as Jason Constable, hit 119 off 62 balls in Shipton’s mammoth 40-over total of 315-7.

Andrew Hemming (40), Steven Bates (37) and Tim Senior (32) supported well.

Sandford slumped to 36-6 in reply before being all out for 107, Tom King leading the way with four wickets.

Chris Panter, Charlie Brain and Joe Barrett claimed two wickets apiece to hand Shipton a home tie against Kidmore End, who received a walkover from opponents Warborough & Shillingford.

Another century-maker was Kingston Bagpuize’s Marco Cecchini, who made 114 in their 78-run win at Peppard.

Cecchini was assisted by Ollie Young as Bagpuize closed on 241-9.

All the visiting bowlers chipped in as Peppard were all out for 163.

Kingston will host Great & Little Tew in round two after Tew hammered Oxford Downs by 147 runs in a surprisingly one-sided match.

Tew made 198 all out, with Harry Smith and Dave Powles their mainstays.

A stunning bowling performance by Michael Darby, Piers Myatt, Matty Taylor and Arf Smith saw Downs skittled for just 51.

Joe Robinson carried his bat with 82 not out to steer Tiddington to a three-wicket home victory over Cropredy.

Wayne Hazel top-scored with 56 in Cropredy’s 175-8, Pete Cooling (35) and James Coleman (30) chipping in and Tiddington’s Sam Hollingshead taking 4-27.

Luke Cherry (3-38) was Cropredy’s leading bowler, but he couldn’t stop Robinson leading Tiddington to 176-7.

Tiddington will visit Horspath, who were given a walkover by Hanborough, in round two.

Completing the Oxfordshire quarter-finals are The Baldons, who will host Cumnor – the latter receiving a bye in round one.
