Wychwood (Shipton-under- Wychwood) retained their Oxfordshire title with a convincing victory in the final of the Asda Under 11 Kwik Cricket tournament at Rover Cowley.

They made 265 in the final and then restricted Aston Cote (Witney) to 225 to triumph by 40 runs.

Wychwood had found it much tougher in the semi-finals, just squeezing past St Edmund's (Abingdon) 239-235, while Aston Cote beat Wheatley 234-221.

Now Wychwood go on to represent Oxon in the regional final on Monday, with the prize for the winners a place in the national finals at Trent Bridge on Tuesday, July 18.

Wheatley successfully defended their Oxon Under 11 Girls Kwik Cricket crown at the Oxford University Press Sports Ground.

They won all four of their matches in the round-robin tournament, with Headington School Harriers runners-up and Great Milton third.
