T'S been quite a week for Alan Hepden, husband of Oxford trainer Gilly, whose kennels are at Chipping Norton.
The self-employed plumber, who won £1,505,443.20 Britain's biggest-ever pools win in 1990, scooped £10,000 for winning the Totesport Ten to Follow competition where you name ten horses and accumulate points throughout the season.
But it's not only the pools and nags that have brought Alan success, he's not bad with greyhounds too.
His dog Gotabetem triumphed at Oxford on Friday night, and then to top it all off, his Black By Design won at Tuesday's BAGS meeting, scooping another £300.
Not a bad week's work!
Meanwhile, Oxford have named two new trainers.
Paul Clarke, who joins their ranks soon, was a former kennel-hand to the very successful Holloway kennel in the 1980s.
Another new face is Alan Stevens, who hails from Hastings. A successful open race winner round here, he will trial his first batch of dogs this Monday.
