Centre half Mark Creighton insists he and Oxford United teammate James Constable have “unfinished business” at Wembley.

The duo were in the Kiddermin-ster Harriers team that lost 3-2 to Stevenage in the 2007 FA Trophy final – the first major match to be played at the new Wembley Stadium.

And Creighton says that disappointment will only increases the desire to make sure they on the winning side with United against York in Sunday’s Blue Square Premier play-off final.

“James scored twice in the game, we were 2-0 up, and we ran out of a bit of steam in the second half and lost 3-2 in the last minute,” Creighton recalled.

“It wasn’t the greatest day. So myself and Beano have got unfinished business.”

Creighton believes, however, that the current U’s team are very capable of giving everyone connected with Oxf-ord a day to remember on Sunday.

He has been part of a defence which has been outstanding in recent weeks, but is quick to stresses that everyone has contributed to that, not just the four recognised defenders.

“We’re pleased as a team with how we’ve been defensively lately,” he said.

“Keeping clean sheets is a lot down to your back four and your goalkeeper, but also all over the pitch. If everybody’s working hard and doing their jobs, it makes it so much harder for teams to break us down.

“And that’s what we’ve done. We’ve got a great work ethic at the club, and it just flows through the team.”

Creighton, a popular player with the supporters, can’t wait to experience the Wembley atmosphere with up to 40,000 Oxford United followers in full voice, especially if the team perform as they did in the semi-final against Rushden.

“It will be fantastic,” he said. “Last Monday I thought we were excellent and I think the fans appreciated that we were good and thoroughly deserved to go through. It will be like Monday, times ten!”

l UNITED boss Chris Wilder says there’s a clean bill of health from all of his available squad, with nobody undergoing treatment.

“I don’t think there will be too many suprises in our team, or in either team,” he said.
