Batsmen cashed in on some unseasonally firm pitches in the first round, with three centuries being made including a massive 194 from Bledlow Village’s Charlie Downes which set up a 174-run win over Chearsley.

The West Oxfordshire derby produced nearly 500 runs as Shipton-under-Wychwood saw off Oxford Downs by four wickets.

Wes Bartlett finished four runs short of a ton in Downs’s 45-over total of 247-4, Darryl Woods chipping in with 60 on his debut.

But that proved insufficient as Charlie Brain’s unbeaten 102 sped Shipton home in 36.2 overs, completing the game and his century with a six.

The third century-maker was Kingsley Went, whose 163 helped Bourton Vale to 373-5 and a 178-run victory over Bledlow Ridge.

Best bowling display of the day came from Leighton Buzzard’s Tom Light, with 5-26 in a 67-run win over Great & Little Tew.

Perennial rivals Horspath and Cumnor squared up for the first time this season with the former coming out on top.

Rob Eason and Joe Todd shone with 77 and 71 respectively in Horspath’s 209-6, Cumnor struggling to 116 all out in 42.5 overs in reply.
