WEST Ilsley trainer Mick Channon hailed Baddam as an 'amazing horse' after the four-year-old gave him a famous double by adding the Queen Alexandra Stakes to Tuesday's Ascot Stakes win.
Ian Mongan brought Baddam with a storming late run to deny runner-up Cover Up a third victory in the marathon two miles and extended five-furlong event.
It made him the first horse to complete the Ascot Stakes-Queen Alexandra Stakes double since Mountain Cross in 1978.
Channon said: "I'm absolutely delighted he's a horse I'll remember for a very long time.
"He's quite an amazing horse with quite an amazing owner (the wheelchair-bound Noel Martin).
"I think we've found his ideal distance almost by default. These things happen in racing and when they do it's great, but to have two winners at Royal Ascot with the same horse is amazing especially over staying distances."
