EAST Ilsley trainer Hughie Morrison landed his second big Saturday sprint handicap in succession when Baltic King swept to victory in the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The master of Summerdown Stables, who sent out Prince Tamino to capture the William Hill Trophy at York seven days earlier, did the trick again with the son of Danetime in the ultra-competitive six-furlong dash.
Jimmy Fortune produced the 10-1 chance, who finished sixth in the King's Stand Stakes four days earlier, with a terrific late run on the stands rail to beat 5-1 favourite Firenze by a length and a half.
Bahamian Pirate (33-1) was the same distance back in third with Borderlescott (14-1) fourth.
"He was obviously not fit enough in the King's Stand," joked Morrison.
"This race was always my preferred target and, when he's on song, he's a very good horse he's right up there with the best of them."
Fortune added: "It was a great training feat and the trainer told me to drop him in and take our time."
