Oxfordsishire Under 15s swept to a 144-run victory against the Isle of Wight in their latest ECB Under 15 County Cup clash at Abingdon Vale on Sunday.
The visitors won the toss, and surprisingly asked Oxfordshire to bat first on a superb wicket.
They quickly rued that decision as openers Shabaz Alam and Will Barker put on 60 in only ten overs.
In-form Josh Smith and skipper Jack Taylor shared a third-wicket stand of 80 in only 16 overs, before Taylor was dismissed for 40, but the momentum was continued with Nathaniel Watkins getting into his stride.
Smith eventually fell for 58, but Matt Purssell, promoted up the order, put on 65 with Watkins, before both batsmen fell in successive balls.
The lower order rallied as Oxon closed on a formidable 275-8 from their 50 overs.
In the Isle of Wight's reply, Oxon got off to a perfect start, with opening bowlers Mitchell Meredith and Matt Woods applying real pressure with their line and length.
Woods claimed the first two wickets to leave the visitors reeling on 25-2, then Purssell trapped Tom Keyzor lbw .
Isle of Wight found themselves in deeper trouble when Purssell picked up a second wicket, courtesy of Wasim Mehmood's sharp slip catch, before spin duo Taylor and Mehmood starved the middle order of runs, conceding only 35 runs from the next 18 overs.
All-rounder John Forrest cleaned up the tail with 2-14 from six tidy overs to leave the Isle of Wight all out for 131.
