Headington were one of four sides to notch up their first win of the season in the Oxford & District League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries Garden Centre.
With Middleton Cup players Howard Watts and Nick Welsh skipping two of the rinks, Headington finally lived up to their potential with a 6-0 victory over South Oxford in Division 1.
Oxford City & County kept up their challenge at the top with a 5-1 win over Banbury Chestnuts.
Robin Hewson's rink led the way with a 26-10 success.
Witney Mills, who have also struggled to get going this season, gained an 4-1 win away to Kidlington A in Division 2.
John Mott's rink secured Mills' first win of the year, beating John Hardie by 11 shots.
In Division 3, West Oxford got off the mark with a 5-1 home win over Hanborough.
Fred Buck's rink led the way with a 30-11 win for the Botley side.
Newcomers Kidlington B sprang the biggest shock of the day by opening their account with a 6-0 whitewash away to unbeaten Florence Park.
