Witney Roadrunner Elysia Ridley will join Oxford Mail reporter Emma-Kate Lidbury at the world championships in Lausanne, Switzerland, in September.
At the Shropshire Triathlon in Ellesmere, Ridley's first attempt at the Olympic distance (1500m swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run) was a huge success as she qualified for a place in the 20-24 age group for Great Britain in a time of 2hrs 16mins 5secs.
Last month, Ridley spent two weeks triathlon training in Cyprus with the Army.
On her return, she competed in the Blenheim Triathlon, where she finished an impressive third in the sprint race.
Also making the trip to Switzerland will be Oxford Tri's Matt Powell, who finished second in the 30-34 age category in 2.00.23 in Shropshire.
