Abingdon Amblers' Jonny Lodowski has one eye on the World Junior Championships in Beijing in August after a stunning performance in the South of England Championships at Crystal Palace.
Lodowski won a bronze medal in the under 20 men's 400m hurdles, earning him an invitation to Great Britain's world junior trials, which are combined with the AAA Under 20/23 Championships, at Bedford on July 22.
The youngster won his heat on Saturday in 55.4secs, before clocking a personal best of 54.59 to finish third in Sunday's final.
That time was well inside the English Schools' national standard, meaning he will compete in the English Schools' Track & Field Championships at Gateshead on the weekend of July 7/8.
Lodowski has been consistently improving his personal best in the hurdles.
Coach Veronica Boden said: "As Jonny has only been hurdling for three months, this is a fantastic result, and I'm sure there is more to come from him."
Oxford City's Hannah England just missed out on a medal in the under 20 women's 800m, finishing fourth in 2mins 9.24secs.
Banbury Harrier Perriss Wilkins, competing in his first major competition since returning from a drugs ban, finished third in the men's discus final with a throw of 50.60m.
The winner of the competition was Emeka Udechuku (Woodford Green), who threw 57.16m.
Oxford City's Ben Kelsey also reached the final, achieving a personal best of 44.07m in the fifth round.
