Paul Hooley snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for Bicester against Thame with the last wood of the game in Division 2 of the Oxford & District League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries Garden Centre.

With Thame set to triumph in the battle between the two unbeaten teams, Hooley pulled the game out of the fire against Ron Slater to seal a 4-2 win.

Witney Mills, who narrowly missed out on promotion last season, suffered a fourth straight defeat, losing 6-0 at home to leaders Rover.

In Division 1, South Oxford recorded their first win of the season with a superb 6-0 victory against unbeaten Banbury Chestnuts.

Oxford City & County A continued their resurgence with a comfortable 5-1 win at Headington.

Robin Hewson led the way with a 29-13 success.

Reigning champions Banbury Central A jumped to the top after a 6-0 win at Oxford City & County B.

Mick Andrew top-scored for Central.

In Division 3, Blackbird Leys maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an excellent 4-2 win over Shiplake.

Roy Brain and Mick Majors' rinks sealed a ten-shot victory for the Leys, putting them top by half a point from Shiplake.

Florence Park continued their best start to a league season, with a superb 5-1 home victory over Bloxham in Division 4.

They now have the same number of points as leaders Chadlington, who were 5-1 winners over Morris Motors.
