Beehive AC held the second of their two warm-up matches before their summer league kicks off at Milton Pools, near Wheatley, writes Andy Webber Bob Alder caught 46.7.0 of carp on pole and maggot to top the 15-strong field. Second with 40.6.0, including a 10.4.0 common carp, was Chris Dingle, who used pole and paste, while Dave Simmons was third with 30.1.0 carp and orfe to pole and pellet. The first match of four for the Ann Malone Memorial Trophy was fished by 17 matchmen at Fernhill, near Banbury. All proceeds from these matches go to Sobell House and £111 was raised by the anglers. At the final whistle, Roger Malone weighed in 13.7.0 to claim first place. His bag was made up of a 13lb carp, plus a few roach, caught on maggot. Using pole and caster, Steve Malone had 6.10.0 of roach for second, followed by Frank Malone with 3.13.0 of roach to pinkie. North Oxford AS were on Oxford Canal at Frenchay Road for a club match, fished by ten anglers. With no boats about because of the work being carried out on the A34 viaduct, it was nice and peaceful. Dave Scott-Picton triumphed with a net of mainly skimmers for 8.15.0. He fished punch throughout and took advantage of the fact that children often feed the ducks from the bridge with bread. Maurice Winstone was pegged on the perch bush and fished chopped worm for a second-placed 6.5.0 of perch, followed by Henry Clarke with 1.15.0 of roach and skimmers. It was all go for the eight anglers fishing the latest Yarnton AC match on the canal at Wolvercote. Top man was Nick Collier, who weighed in 5.14.0 of bits caught on pole and pinkie. Mick Willoughby had to settle for second place with 4.14.0, and Scott Miller (Predator) was third with 2.12.0 of silver fish on bloodworm over joker. With only one match left in this year’s Winter League, Scott Miller has secured the trophy, but it is very close for second place with any of six anglers in with a chance. Other Results.
