Chadlington rider Simon Lawrance and his mount Ritchie Rich triumphed for the second successive year at the Knight Frank Great Tew Horse Trials.

Held on Nick and Linda Johnston's estate, the two-day event saw Lawrance win the open novice section by 0.1 point from Ireland's Louisa Clarke and Blue Moss.

It came after the combination had taken a novice event 12 months ago.

Lawrance was denied a double at the event by Duns Tew rider Tamsin Miall, who scored a popular local success on Pocket Diplomat in the Pre-Novice Section A.

Miall's mount took the honours by one point from Lawrance and Millie Ennium.

Other local winners were Laura Collett, aboard Rayef, and Cordelia Croft, on Maui, both in novice events.

British Olympic rider William Fox-Pitt, who was formerly based at Goddington, near Bicester, also enjoyed success with Cool Mountain.
