Rewi Tolich produced a man-of-the-match performance on his debut for Oxford Cavaliers as they hammered Burntwood Barbarians 48-22 in their TRL South West and Midlands Conference match at Oxford.
The Chinnor RFC player scored two tries to help secure a revenge win for Cavaliers, who lost 48-16 at Burntwood last month.
Fears that the new-look squad would suffer from disruption were allayed early on when a dummy from Peter Lowe created space for Adam White to score the first of their nine tries.
This was followed by the first of five conversions from Guy Elliot.
Cavaliers led 22-6 just before half-time, but Burntwood stormed back to close the gap to four points.
Inspired by Tolich, the home side pulled away for a comfortable victory.
Both skipper Adam White and full back Greg Cushing a recent convert from rugby union scored a hat-trick of tries, while Andy Morris went over once.
Cushing kicked the other goal.
