Banbury were left hanging on for a draw after they had distinctly the worse end of their Home Counties League Division 1 match against West Herts on Saturday.

After putting their visitors in to bat, Banbury found themselves chasing a big target of 258, and eventually played out time on 167-7.

Banbury captured two early wickets, but a patient innings of 85 by Duncan Hodges took the game out of their reach.

Craig Sanders made an aggressive 50, but departed just before lunch when West Herts were 135-4.

The visitors were eventually bowled out for 257 in the 66th over. Luke Ryan was Banbury's best bowler with 4-72.

Banbury needed a big innings to challenge this total, but no player managed more than Craig Haupt's 38, as Hodges took three wickets to complete a good day.
