BIRTHDAY boy David Heritage celebrated in style with a match-winning spell as Horspath upset Aston Rowant by 85 runs in the Oxfordshire semi-finals.
oThe medium-pacer, 31 on Sunday, took 5-30 to rip the heart out of the Rowant batting in front of his home crowd and send The Oxford Times Cherwell League Division 1 outfit crashing out.
They will now be at home to Oxford Downs in the final on Sunday, June 18.
Chasing third division Horspath's challenging 223-8 off 40 overs, Tim Morgan and Chris Watling put on 52 for Rowant's first wicket.
But after Andy Cummings shattered Watling's stumps, Heritage struck a double blow with two wickets in as many balls to reduce Rowant to 84-3.
Rowant never recovered and with Heritage completing his five-wicket haul, and Ben Cook and Mark Skelton picking up two wickets apiece, the visitors collapsed to 138 all out.
Earlier, former Oxfordshire batsman Robbie Eason had provided the backbone of the Horspath innings.
He hit an unbeaten 73, which included seven fours and a six, after veteran openers Dick Decaires and Graham Plested had shared an opening stand of 55.
Will Eason gave his elder brother good support wirth a fluent 42, while Morgan took 3-45 for Rowant.
Oxford Downs beat Kidmore End by five wickets with nine balls to spare.
Tom Caines (67) and Jeff Sheldon (57) put on 108 for the second wicket.
Paul Butler hit three sixes in his 40 before they lost eight wickets for 15 runs to be all out for 190, Chris Sandbach taking 3-43.
Downs got off to a bright start with Ian Caunce making a typically belligerent 57, including seven fours and a six, in an opening stand of 88 with Sandbach (25).
Some tight bowling left Downs 75 to get in the last ten overs, but Luke List (52no) and skipper Danny Lee, with 28 not out off 21 balls.
