Almost three years ago, Windrush Valley Amateur Boxing Club lost everything to floods.
But their turn-around was completed last week when they won West Oxfordshire Sports Club of the Year.
Head Coach Steve Setch, 56, said: “I was absolutely gob-smacked that our club won the award. I’m a hard man, but I was almost in tears.”
The boxing club was established 30 years ago as Witney Amateur Boxing Club, but after the floods of July 2007 they lost their venue and all their equipment.
Since re-opening in March 2008, they have gone from strength to strength.
Chairperson Ann Setch, said: “The last two and a half years have not been stressful at all because everyone’s been so supportive.”
