HOME COUNTIES PREMIER LEAGUE: Pat Jobson says Oxford will be sending out two first teams this season as they bid to keep all their players fresh.

With Oxford 2nd now in Division 1 of the Oxford Times Cherwell League, the club's seven new signings won't be short of action.

Jobson said: "Competition for places is exactly what we want because effectively, we are running two first teams.

"We will be treating the teams exactly the same.

"If you are not in the Home Counties ide, you will be still be playing first division cricket."

Those joining the club include Oxfordshire all-rounder Joe Porter, Shipton-Under-Wychwood batsman Simon Hole and Tiddington seamer Jack Brooks.

Alex Morgan, Tom Crouch and David Slade arrive after impressing in the Cherwell League.

South African wicket-keeper/ batsman Todd Hutchinson is their overseas player and last year scored 900 runs in the Thames Valley League for Royal Ascot.

Jobson added: "Last year we had an OK season and we are certainly looking to improve on that.

"Up until the last game we could have finished third, but the league is going to be tougher this year."

Oxford have a derby at Banbury for their opening fixture tomorrow and have named an 18-man squad.

Paceman Stuart Hole faces a fitness test to decide whether he will play in the firsts or seconds.
