Oxford Cheetahs boss Aaron Lanney slammed some of his riders as gutless as they crashed to another defeat against Belle Vue at Oxford Stadium last night.

"I just wish some of the team would try as hard as I am here," he said.

"It's very frustrating and some of the performances was just gutless tonight. I'm shattered ."

It meant the Aces knocked up a cool five points in three days against Oxford and Grand Prix series leader Jason Crump completed ten out of ten wins over the two meetings.

Only Todd Wiltshire, the unlucky Eric Andersson and Adam Skornicki can hold their heads high on another poor night for Cheetahs.

As forecast, Czech youngster Lubos Tomicek, who hit his top score for Cheetahs on Monday, was missing as he had to ride for his club in the Czech Republic yet again, and Premier League rider Krister Marsh stepped in.

Although Wiltshire got Cheetahs off to a flier, it wasn't until heat five that the Aces stamped their authority as Skornicki lost second place behind Kenneth Bjerre and with Joe Screen tucking in behind, they stole a four point advantage.

The Manchester outfit reigned supreme in the next three heats but passes by Davey Watt on Phil Morris and David Howe on James Wright still kept it tight.

It was classic Screen in the next as he picked off both Andersson and Watt in trademark style.

It wasn't until heat ten that Oxford gained their first heat advantage. Wiltshire, with an electrifying gate, led along with Watt, but down the back straight, Simon Stead kicked into gear and kept Aces ahead by 32-28 at the interval.

There was no respite after the break as Screen appeared on Crump's bike and just showed how easy it was.

The meeting was getting away from Cheetahs now with the Aces eight points to the good, and things were not getting any better as Andersson crashed heavily in heat 13, the Aces sealing victory with two heats left.

Freddie Eriksson came in as tactical in heat 14 and produced a classic scissor pass on Wright and Madsen, but it was all too little, too late.

Oxford: Wiltshire 12, Skornicki 8, Eriksson 7+1, Andersson 6+1, Watt 5+2, Howe 5+1, Marsh 0. 43pts.

Belle Vue: Crump 15, Stead 10, Screen 9, Bjerre 7, Wright 4, Morris 3, Madsen 2. 50pts.
