Sunningwell & District ABC's Stuart Pownceby marched on in the ABA Novice Championships with a unanimous points decision over Watford's David Lloyd at the Pulse Nightclub, Stevenage.
oPownceby asserted his authority in the opening two rounds of the 64k contest at the Home Counties finals, building up a good lead with combinations of left hooks and right cross shots.
He kept up the pressure to clinch victory in the last round to make it three wins out of three.
Now Pownceby, an electrician from Botley, goes on to represent the Home Counties against the Eastern Counties in the last 16 at Watford on Saturday, May 13.
Meanwhile, Berinsfield schoolboy duo Christy Collins and Will Joyce delivered dynamic performances to record emphatic wins over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Collins caught the eye of former world flyweight champion and television pundit Duke McKenzie as he picked up the boxer-of-the-night award at Brean Sands, Somerset.
It was a sparkling display from the bell as he pegged back Adrian Smith, his taller opponent from the host King Alfred gym, with a succession of firm jabs.
Neat clusters of punches to both head and body racked up the points to give Collins all three rounds and a comfortable unanimous points decisions.
Joyce also dominated his encounter with Ricky O'Connor at Cheltenham, never allowing his rival to take charge.
He put the Cleve boxer on to the back foot with neat combinations off the jab as the Berinsfield youngster to cruise to an emphatic victory.
