Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts are set to pay the oustanding £350 fine they owe The Oxford Times Cherwell League to allow them to take the field on Saturday week.

The fine was part of the punishment Nondies received last September for breaking league registration rules.

League secretary Peter Tomlin confirmed that they had still not received the payment which ironically must be sent to Jim Lodge, the league treasurer, who is also a Nondies vice-president.

If the fine is not paid, it would mean Nondies' four teams will not be allowed to play.

Tomlin said: "They won't be eligible to take part in any fixtures it's as simple as that."

But this week Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts chairman John Brown admitted they would probably pay the fine.

"I think we have no option in the short term, but I don't say we agree with it," he stated.

Meanwhile, Nondies are considering their options in the long-running saga of their battle with the league.

It comes in the light of the league's extraordinary general meeting last week when the clubs approved a modified constitution.

However, it was only accepted after a number of clubs made it known they were unhappy with the lack of consultation which had taken place and voted accordingly.

Brown added: "We, along with other clubs who attended the EGM, are considering the implications of the constitution that was passed at the meeting.

"Probably, like most of the clubs who were present, we welcome Banbury Town's involvement in consulting the committee to come up with a constitution with which everyone is comfortable."
